Description
What are “camo doors” for the XP 1000
- These are aftermarket or OEM-style door kits (front — and sometimes rear/front depending on the kit) designed to replace the factory “net/half-door” or open-cab side of the Ranger.
- The “camo” refers to a camouflage-pattern — typically Polaris’ own “Pursuit Camo” (or similar camouflage variants) — used on the door panels, for aesthetic and outdoors-oriented styling.
- These doors fully enclose the cab (or nearly so), offering much more protection than stock nets or open sides — useful for weather, dust, mud, cold, branches, and other off-road hazards.
🛠️ Materials & Construction
Depending on the type of door (soft/canvas vs poly/hard), construction varies:
- Soft-door / Canvas-style kits: Made of heavy-duty fabric (often an acrylic-coated woven polyester — ~1000-denier) for durability, tear and abrasion resistance, UV and mildew resistance. Windows are typically 30-gauge smoked vinyl, UV treated, waterproof and flexible.
- Poly / Hard-shell / Hunter-style doors: Use a polycarbonate shell (often clear or lightly tinted) with a steel frame that contours to the ROPS cage, giving a more rigid, weatherproof enclosure.
- Secure-seal & sealing features: Many of these doors are designed to seal tightly to reduce wind, dust, and water ingress — which helps maintain a more comfortable cabin environment.
- Optional ventilation / windows: Some door designs include hinged or sliding windows (glass or vinyl) to allow airflow when needed, while still keeping a sealed shell when closed.
🚗 What you get / Benefits
Installing camo-pattern doors on your XP 1000 brings several advantages:
- Better protection from elements — rain, wind, dust, mud — helping especially if you ride in rough terrain, muddy environments, or during bad weather.
- Improved cab comfort — less wind/chill, more stable, enclosed seating environment; more suitable if you get cold, or want to run a heater/AC (on versions that support it).
- Safety against hazards — branches, debris, or stick-slaps (common in trail riding) are less likely to get inside the cab.
- Versatility: Many kits are modular — you can install doors alone or combined with windshield/top/back panels to build a full enclosure.
- Camouflage styling: The “Pursuit Camo” or similar patterns are great for hunting, hunting-editions, forestry, or simply for rugged outdoor look.
